A day here

How a child spends the day

No clock times: each part of the day follows the children.

  1. 01
    Early morning

    Step 1: Arrival

Each child arrives with a parent at the door. There is time for a hug, for a backpack on its hook and for slippers.

  2. 02
    Mid-morning

Step 2: Play in the living room

Blocks, books, play dough and paint on the rug and at the table. Babies have their own spot on the floor with an adult beside them.

  3. 03
    Around noon

    Step 3: Snack and lunch

Fruit in the morning and a hot lunch cooked in the kitchen. The children eat at the table, each at their own pace.

  4. 04
    After lunch

    Step 4: Nap

Babies sleep on their backs, in their own cots, with nothing else in the cot. Older children rest on mats, and anyone who doesn't sleep looks at books.

  5. 05
    Afternoon

    Step 5: The yard

Out to the fenced yard in every season, with hats in summer and boots in the rain. In spring we plant, and in summer we water.

  6. 06
    End of the day

    Step 6: Pickup

Each child is handed over in person. Zoya tells you how the day went and what they ate, and asks for ID from anyone she doesn't know.

From Zoya's kitchen

A sample week: a vegetable soup, rice or buckwheat with vegetables, and fruit in season. Some days it is borscht or varenyky. Zoya shares each week's menu with families.

  • Two snacks and a lunch each day

  • Tell us about any allergy at the tour

  • Once you enroll, we ask again in private

Outside

Fresh air most days

The yard is fenced and shaded, with a sandbox, a low slide and a table in the garden. On wet days the children go out in rain boots, and on cold days in a warm layer.

  • Hats and sunscreen in summer

  • Rain boots by the door

  • A garden bed the children help with
